Is Adrian Chase Prometheus?

It’s been a while since I’ve been here much like Oliver Queen in Lian Yu.

I’ve finally finished watching season five of Arrow and let me just say, that was one of the greatest season they had.

For those you haven’t seen Arrow or caught up there are SPOILERS in this post. I try to stray from them, but this post can’t stray from them this time.

Arrow has experienced many great villains. Season one was Malcolm Merlyn, season two was Slade Wilson, season three Ra’s Al Ghul, and season four Damien Darhk. But we encountered a new type of villain this past season, Prometheus aka Adrian Chase played by the most amazing actor Josh Segarra.

I was truly enthralled with Prometheus because his name. Prometheus was a Titan who created humanity and stole fire from Mount Olympus to give to mankind. Zeus then gets upset that he imprisons Prometheus for his act.

Prometheus is a sort of hero, so to see this character portrayed as a villain is twist of fate. Although Zeus sees Prometheus as a villain or criminal, he was helping is creation survive making him a hero.

In Arrow, Adrian Chase is the new DA, a person who helps Mayor Queen whenever he’s in trouble. Adrian works with Mayor Queen when John Diggle gets out of prison, when the news exploited Mayor Queen, and when Mayor Queen was getting impeached.

You can say that Adrian was being a good guy. I mean I truly fell for him so much that was hoping that he be a regular. But as it turns out he’s the villain ready to avenge his father’s death.

But is Adrian Chase really Prometheus?

Adrian explains that he calls himself Prometheus because he’s taking something from Oliver. That doesn’t correlate to the story.

All Adrian did was strip Oliver of his alter ego to make him see what Oliver truly see: a killer. But that’s not who Prometheus is.

Prometheus wanted to keep his creation, humanity, alive. He sot to steal fire from the gods, who saw his creation as inferior, to give to those who needed it. Adrian didn’t do anything like that. He wanted Oliver to suffer and to admit he like killing.

So why call him Prometheus?

I believe that you should correlate both stories somehow. Don’t just use the name because it sounds cool.

It would be great to see Adrian as a vigilante. He could be Prometheus in the terms of wanting to strip Team Arrow down.

To explain further.

Citizens of Star City see Team Arrow as untouchable much like gods, but they are just humans.

Adrian is already trying to do his best for his city as District Attorney. Bring people to justice, but sees Team Arrow as having all control again much like gods.

Adrian as Prometheus would be stripping Team Arrow individual down to human and showing all of Star City who they really are. Prometheus would be giving something to humanity by stealing something identity in this case from Team Arrow aka the “gods.”

That’s something I believe would have played out really well, and would have correlated really well to Prometheus’ origin story.

Arrow is an amazing show that I love, that I’m obsessed with. The writers are always trying to challenge the actors and the plot of the show. It continues to amaze. I just wonder what’s going to happen next.

Always keeping it nerdy.
