Is Adrian Chase Prometheus?

It’s been a while since I’ve been here much like Oliver Queen in Lian Yu.

I’ve finally finished watching season five of Arrow and let me just say, that was one of the greatest season they had.

For those you haven’t seen Arrow or caught up there are SPOILERS in this post. I try to stray from them, but this post can’t stray from them this time.

Arrow has experienced many great villains. Season one was Malcolm Merlyn, season two was Slade Wilson, season three Ra’s Al Ghul, and season four Damien Darhk. But we encountered a new type of villain this past season, Prometheus aka Adrian Chase played by the most amazing actor Josh Segarra.

I was truly enthralled with Prometheus because his name. Prometheus was a Titan who created humanity and stole fire from Mount Olympus to give to mankind. Zeus then gets upset that he imprisons Prometheus for his act.

Prometheus is a sort of hero, so to see this character portrayed as a villain is twist of fate. Although Zeus sees Prometheus as a villain or criminal, he was helping is creation survive making him a hero.

In Arrow, Adrian Chase is the new DA, a person who helps Mayor Queen whenever he’s in trouble. Adrian works with Mayor Queen when John Diggle gets out of prison, when the news exploited Mayor Queen, and when Mayor Queen was getting impeached.

You can say that Adrian was being a good guy. I mean I truly fell for him so much that was hoping that he be a regular. But as it turns out he’s the villain ready to avenge his father’s death.

But is Adrian Chase really Prometheus?

Adrian explains that he calls himself Prometheus because he’s taking something from Oliver. That doesn’t correlate to the story.

All Adrian did was strip Oliver of his alter ego to make him see what Oliver truly see: a killer. But that’s not who Prometheus is.

Prometheus wanted to keep his creation, humanity, alive. He sot to steal fire from the gods, who saw his creation as inferior, to give to those who needed it. Adrian didn’t do anything like that. He wanted Oliver to suffer and to admit he like killing.

So why call him Prometheus?

I believe that you should correlate both stories somehow. Don’t just use the name because it sounds cool.

It would be great to see Adrian as a vigilante. He could be Prometheus in the terms of wanting to strip Team Arrow down.

To explain further.

Citizens of Star City see Team Arrow as untouchable much like gods, but they are just humans.

Adrian is already trying to do his best for his city as District Attorney. Bring people to justice, but sees Team Arrow as having all control again much like gods.

Adrian as Prometheus would be stripping Team Arrow individual down to human and showing all of Star City who they really are. Prometheus would be giving something to humanity by stealing something identity in this case from Team Arrow aka the “gods.”

That’s something I believe would have played out really well, and would have correlated really well to Prometheus’ origin story.

Arrow is an amazing show that I love, that I’m obsessed with. The writers are always trying to challenge the actors and the plot of the show. It continues to amaze. I just wonder what’s going to happen next.

Always keeping it nerdy.

Strangers Things Is Not Strange To Me

I've always felt that I was born in the wrong era. I have a love for 60's fashion and 50's hair and makeup. I have a love for Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, and Marlon Brando. And I have love for 80's music. I was meant to be born in a time of great movies, music and interesting fashion-the 80's. And this show just proves it.

I absolutely love 80's movies from The Breakfast Club to E.T., both on which I grew up on. And this shows reminds me of my childhood.

Each character brings out some uniqueness to the screen. Something that I believe we haven't seen at all on TV.

The show revolves around these ordinary kids who happen to run into an extraordinary girl with abilities. Or shall I say superpowers.

These kids go on a mission to find their missing friend, Will, who has been lost for weeks.

This story line reminds me so much of Stephen King's novels and Stand by Me (another one of my favorite movies), which the directors wanted in the first place.

These actors are phenomenal! Especially Wionna Ryder, which is the whole reason I watched the show in the first place. I had missed Wionna's actor for awhile. I really wanted to see her in something again like Heathers, and lets be real this was even better.

She plays a single mother of two, who works tirelessly for her children. Then one goes missing and she well, go crazy. She puts you on edge every time you see her. You tend worry with her about her son Will.

Then there's kids. They are amazing! Some of them are first time actors and well let's just say that they are going to have jobs lined up. They had so much energy and chemistry that I believed they had been friends forever.

Then there's the teenagers, which I fell in love with the love triangle. And Barb! These actors made you feel like you were in high school again and gave you that Breakfast Club vibe. Where you had the cool kids and the losers, and the creeps aka Jonathan.

Nancy was like Molly Ringwald and Steve was bit like Bender and Andrew Clark all in one. Although I'm not the biggest fan of Steve, I do love the Jean Ralphio hair! Let's be real here I love Nancy and Jonathan together. #Nanathan

The clothes and the music-that's how you tie in a great soundtrack to show! It added so much atmosphere and character. It gave a whole new meaning to mysterious and horror. It made it feel eerie without the dramatic effects.

The whole plot of the story-the writing- is just amazing that words cannot describe. I'm still processing the whole thing.

I got lost so much in the story that I believed that I was in the show. I love that about TV or books, that when you lose yourself in the story the director or author did his job.

Overall I CAN'T WAIT TO SEASON TWO!!!! This show is now my life.

The Russo Brothers Have Done It Again!

Today marks the day that Captain America: Civil War, has made Marvel history. And I was lucky enough to be a part of it. I have longly anticipated this to marvel at this movie. I've been a fan of Captain America since it has graced the theaters back in 2011. He has been a brave, strong hero that could be consider the Superman of Marvel, but let's face it Cap is better (that's my opinion-which is right).

Captain America proves that loyalty, and your gut instinct is what is going to keep you alive, and save those that you love (I'm looking at you Daryl Dixon).

But in order to appreciate and love Captain America: Civil War, let's look back at the first two amazing Cap movies.

Captain America: First Avenger. This movie is, of course, the start of it all. This when we get to see how much Steve is a loyal guy, and a scrawny one. We get to appreciate his enthusiasm to be a part of the war. This where we, the audience, get a feel about how courageous Steve is, and how he wants to do good in a world full of chaos.

We also get a love for Bucky and Peggy. We see the loyalty between Steve and Bucky, and how they couldn't be father then family. Its like my best friend and me (or I, wait it's me, I don't know, and I'm an English major). Then you have Peggy Carter, which is one of my favorite characters. The founder of SHIELD, you could tell that her and Steve were made for each other.

Unfortunately, that never happens, which brings us to Captain America: Winter Solider. This is easily my all-time favorite movie in the MCU! Winter Solider starts off with Steve getting more used to the new world, after being iced for 70 years (watch Captain America: First Avenger). We see Cap in a whole new way, and a whole new uniform, which is my favorite by far.

There's more conformation between Cap and SHIELD. See SHIELD is being compromised by the NAZI Scientific Research Hydra, and Cap has to save the thing that Peggy created, and all the lives that are at risk. NOT TO MENTION, BUCKY! Yes, Cap sees that Bucky, he best friend has been compromised by Hydra.

Winter Solider is more dark and grim; a political thriller, that Russo brothers have done amazingly. There's an eternal conflict within Bucky between his mission, and who is truly is. Then there's loyalty issues with Cap. He doesn't know who to trust anymore.

Cap struggles to find his place since SHIELD is collapsing. Does he fight to get SHIELD back? What about Bucky? And how Hydra undermine SHIELD?

It's all to much. And if you think that's a lot then Civil War was the cherry on top.

Captain America: Civil War was brilliant! The Russo brothers out did themselves. CW for short was different, than I imagined. CW was a lot more comical since we have Spidey pay a visit. But the plot of CW had more tension within it because the outcome has a lot more importance.

As you already know or you should (watch a trailer or something) Black Panther makes a beautiful appearance. And his character paves the way for what is in store in the upcoming movies. His character also added depth in that he's willing to look at both sides of a villain's story. He's one of the most graceful superhero, I've ever come in contact with. Also he's just amazing.

Then there's Spidey. Let me tell you I love Spider-Man, he's my all-time favorite superhero, which ironic cause I'm afraid of spiders. But this Spidey well wasn't my favorite maybe because I'm tired of Sony redoing Spider-Man for what seems like 700th time. I get it, they want a younger Spider-Man, but I just kept picturing Andrew Garfield in the movie, and I know it could have worked. Maybe even better. I will admit that he did have some funny parts, but he wasn't my favorite.

Now let's discuss bae (before anything else) Chris Evans aka Captain America. His performance was absolutely amazing. It was something that I haven't seen any Marvel movie. This was his fifth time playing Cap, but this time it was different. He seemed to play him with some soul, more understanding, depth. Cap had this attitude about where he stands with the Accords (not a spoiler, it's in the trailer) and to me that's something I've never seen, and if we're being honest here, I don't think I've seen that with any other Marvel movie.

Cap has grown so much in the MCU, and it's amazing to see how loyalty is very much a part of him, but so is Bucky. Whenever Cap makes a move, he always goes with his gut, which can teach people that you have to got with your first instinct, whether it's circling C on a test or locking doors when you see a creepy guy. Cap shows that he not only understands the world he's living in, but wants so much to protect it.

And Ant-Man is there. I love Paul Rudd, he's just. You know he's just.

Chris Evans was so amazing and I instantly fell back in love with him, well I was never not in love with him. Sebastian Stan was beautiful. Jeremy Renner was life. Anthony Mackie was Mackie. Paul Rudd was second bae. Downey probably smelt like Downey. Scarlett Johansson made me wish that I worked out. Paul Bettany as Vision and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlett Witch was.... Overall the movie was fabulous that I have to see it 20 more times.

The Love for Disney is Real

The love for Disney is real. This Sunday I went with my mother and godmother to see The Jungle Book-finally! Let me just state it again: The love for Disney is real.

I've been wanting to see this movie, ever since I saw the trailer for it in February. It looked so appealing, realistic, and funny. And it was! It was action packed and had the same essence as the original version.

The cast was incredible! Ben Kingsley as Bagheera was perfect. I felt every being of my soul in that panther. Ben Kingsley has always been one of my favorite actors. He cares this love, passion, and soul in his acting. To hear his voice come out of Bagheera, who is a panther that only cares for Mowgli, is just beautiful.

There were perfect funny parts in the movie. For instance when Baloo voiced by Bill Murray went to get Mowgli out of the Monkey Palace, he was making funny yet subtle comments to the overweight orangutan King Louie voiced by Christopher Walken.

Idris Elba must be Disney's new bae because not only did he voice Shere Khan, but he was Chief Bogo in Zootopia! I LOVED Zootopia, so to hear his voice in Jungle Book, well that gave me life. Idris always had the voice of authority and in a sense recklessness, an abuse of authority as well. Yup, I got all of that just from hearing his voice. Because when it comes to these types of movies, acting should all be in the voice.

And of course to add more Disney flare to an already Disney movie we have Lupita Nyong'o who voices Raksha, the wolf that mothers Mowgli. I just have to say I have a love for Lupita even though I never saw 12 Years a Slave, I loved her in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Lupita has a soft beautiful voice, perfect for reading an audiobook or poetry-if you know what I mean.

The movie overall was beautiful done. The graphics seemed realistic, and not weird or out of place. Disney just out does themselves every time. First it was amazing to see Zootopia, where a little bunny can be more than what its supposed to be-basically we shouldn't be stuck in boxes- and now it was amazing to see a live action movie version of my favorite Disney movie.

I just have to wonder what they have in store next....

Captain America: Civil War

I'm just nerding out here!!!!!!

Walking Dead Not Zombified Enough?

Walking Dead has always been my favorite show since I started binge-watching it in August 2015. Yes. I watched all the seasons, and yes I got my tías (aunts) to watch all the seasons as well. We had so many binge-watching parties-it was great. So I think it's safe to say, were Walker Stalkers.

So as it came towards the end of what I believe was a decent season, especially (spoiler alert) when we got to see Negan come out in all his gloriousness, my tías believed I was solely wrong. My tía thought that there weren't enough walkers. Snarl. Snarl.

But was the show becoming more human than zombified?

Now we're seeing the characters compete with other communities in order to survive. Isn't that how we live today. Maybe the show is too realistic. As people we like to escape from reality of having to fight everyday (figuratively and literately), and we escape through TV and books. And now see that reality, that we hate so much, on our TV screens and in our books.

We want something that's real, but not real. We want a real phony. (I stole that line from my favorite movie.)

Walking Dead was a beautiful concept of something that might not even happen, and to present this something to people, they have to make it realistic or else the audience will get turn it down.

I mean the blood, and the guts is what makes the show realistic. If I wanted to see horrible effects, and some weird kinda bad acting I would watch a Vincent Price movie. Disclaimer: In no way am I saying that Vincent Price is a bad actor; I love his movies.

I want to feel as an audience member that I'm living in that world with them. So now it's not about the walkers. Clearly if they are following the comics-which I'm almost caught up with. It's going to about people. But wasn't it the whole time?

Maybe the show is getting to real for my tías because they are dealing with a lot hardships. I think the show is doing it's job depicting society how it is-always in battle with each other. I like the fact that books, and TV shows tell or rather show how society is truly. Some people just can't handle the gore. Or the snarls.

The show for me will always be my favorite. Unless they kill Daryl, then they'll have a riot.

Grease Lighting?

First off, I love Grease, it's a classic. It portrays the 1950s Romeo and Juliet without all the suicides. Girl meets Guy, Guy has a summer fling, Girl moves to high school where Guy is attending, Girl bumps into Guy, Guy is freaking out but acts cool and Girl is instantly turned off then there a whole car chase and the Girl and Guy get back together-it's best if you just watch the original. That being said I mean you watch the 1978 Grease with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

Here’s the thing did Grease (Live) Lighting? FOX and NBC have been wanting to redo old plays and musicals as they did in early days of television but lately its been a flop. NBC had Sound of Music, which couldn’t live up to Julie Andrews acting and singing in the original and they also had Peter Pan, which I lost interest quickly in. FOX believed they could do it better but did they?

Grease was filmed in the 1970s about the 1950s, which according to my mother they pulled off quite well. Now we have a 2010s TV movie about the 1950s, which equals a total catastrophe. Well the clothes were on point. They had perfect representation of the era. It really wasn’t that it was everything else.

Aaron Tveit to me couldn’t live up to John Travolta’s high range voice and his incredible dancing. Aaron had the look but didn’t have John’s statuesque look. He didn’t have the cool Fonzie appeal like John. Aaron sang beautifully and his arms were amazing but to me and my mother he was no John Travolta.

Julianne Hough on the other hand was Olivia Newton-John though she couldn’t hit her high notes, Julianne could dance circles around Olivia. Her acting was perfect for the role of Sandy, sweet and innocent but when it came to her “big change” it wasn’t as great as Olivia’s.

Vanessa Hudgens played Rizzo to the point that I couldn’t tell if I loved her more than Stockard Channing. She had the look, the attitude and the singing down to where she looked like she lost herself in the role. She made me believe that she was Rizzo.

To sum up the rest of the Grease Live cast, some were great and others to me failed, but overall I think it was pretty good. Carly Rae Jepsen could never be Frenchie and Carlos PenaVega does a great Kenickie. There’s a lack in everyone else. They failed at their characters and their singing parts.

I loved the surprise guests Barry Pearl and Didi Conn it was brilliant and made me love the musical a lot more. I liked the idea of doing it in front of a live audience but wasn’t too thrilled to see that the audience couldn’t have a natural reaction considering they had to be on camera and play their own roles.

Overall I think it was great for live TV and I see where FOX and NBC want to connect to the musical theatre geeks out there like me. But it’s nothing compared to the original.

Grease Live: C+
Grease: A+
